Housing Association Garden Makeover
Volunteers from a Housing Association joined forces for two days in August to give a much needed garden from an estate in Wiltshire a makeover.
A family with 3 young children under 6 years old were moved into the property and were unable to tackle the amount of work needed to bring the garden up to a suitable state where by it was fenced in and the family could all enjoy it.
Our landscape gardener met with the residents and discussed their needs, desires and wishes for their garden makeover.
Equipped with the necessary tools the team of 19 (compiled of volunteers from the Housing Association, Local Residents) completed the following objectives over 2 days:
. creation of a vegetable plot
. erection and treating of a shed
. erection of picket fencing
. making and planting of borders around the garden
. erecting fencing to make safe the garden for the use of children
. steps from house to garden
. repainting of outside utility room
. erection of gate and provision of garden furniture for family
On completion the family were overwhelmed with the work the volunteers had done for them. They had been there for the duration of the project and the children had played an active role in motivating everyone to finish the work.
The Housing Association said: 'I just wanted to thank you all very much for making the Garden Makeover a fantastic success, I personally thought that we all worked well as a team and accomplished so much in 2 days. I think that the poem by 6 year old Ellena said it all.
Once again thank you all for all your hard work and dedication on this project, I for one really thought that it was worth while'.
